Julia Fiona Roberts' parents are Walter Grady Roberts and Betty Lou Bredemus. Julia Fona Roberts is the fourth generation Roberts that resided in Atlanta. Her father's passion for theatre was inherited by her. in theatre from an early age. He acted on his Emory University campus in 1952 and in other productions that were staged around Atlanta. In 1953, he joined the Air Force, and was stationed in Biloxi in Mississippi acted in a play that he performed in with Betty Lou Bredemus. They married in 1955. Their first son, Eric Anthony, was born in 1956. Walter was an undergraduate at Tulane University, New Orleans Louisiana. In 1957 they were discharged from the air force and Walter began studying at Tulane. In 1960 the family moved from Louisiana to Decatur Georgia where Walter began working for Atlanta's Academy Theater and the Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. Walter and Betty Lou began producing a television show for children in Georgia, Decatur called Bum Bum and His Buddies. They funded the show their own. They established an Actors and Writers Workshop in that same year. It lasted 6 years. They also had Lelisa Billingsley (also known as Lisa) and Julia (also known as Julie) in this time.
